Lehigh Acres Middle School is pleased to announce its school nurse, Ms. Gabrielle Camarda , has been recognized as the Middle School “Nurse of the Year” by the School District of Lee County and will be recognized at a future board meeting.
“Nurse Gabby” has been serving in the Lee County Schools as a Nurse for the past 8 years with the last 3 at Lehigh Acres Middle School.
Lehigh Acres Middle School Cambridge students had the pleasure of attending the Community Day Concert: Cinco de Mayo on Saturday May 3, 2014 hosted by the Naples Philharmonic. The concert featured traditional pieces performed by the Naples Philharmonic and the Mariachi Voices of America. Students enjoyed the music and were impressed with the ambiance of the symphony, its conductor, the variety of instruments in the symphony band and the tempo and vivacious presentation of the Mariachi Band.
Lehigh Acres Middle Schools’ Student Chess Club recently participated in a Swiss Style (Round Robin) Chess Match held at Pinewoods Elementary School. There were over 100 players taking part in the tournament from middle schools all over Southwest Florida. Lehigh Middle School student Anthony DeJesus represented LAMS well as Anthony had three wins and one draw to finish in third place. Congratulations to Anthony and Coach Sam Sokhanvari for a great effort.
Also The Lehigh Acres Middle School Math Team under the guidance of math teacher Chelsea Montgomery competed at a district competition on Saturday May 10th. The Algebra team-Christian Bellissimo, Aedan Deyto, Michael Hintz and Kyle Sousa-competed in three categories including team event, an individual test and the lightening round. They finished in 9th place overall out of twenty schools across Lee County.
Lehigh Acres Middle School is pleased to announce a number of its 8th grade students recently went on a field trip to Florida Gulf Coast University. Students were able to take a tour of the campus, sit in on classes and enjoyed a day of college life at FGCU.
Teachers Sandi Nichols and Connie Cordero coordinated the trip and were pleased to report the visit to FGCU was a huge success.
Faculty, staff and students “ham it up” at Lehigh Acres Middle School (LAMS) Night at McDonald’s Restaurant on Homestead Road in Lehigh Acres. The night serves as a fund-raiser from 5:00-8:00pm for the school as a portion of the proceeds from sales go directly to the school. LAMS is very appreciative to have McDonalds as a partner in the community.
These students are leaders not only academically at school, but also as good citizens and leaders throughout the community, the county and even the state. The National Junior honor Society is a way of recognizing some of these excellent students.
The National Honor Society is one of the oldest and most prestigious organizations whose purpose is to recognize outstanding young people in our nation’s junior and senior high schools. Its standards are quite stringent and require excellence in five distinct areas: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Character and Citizenship.
LAMS congratulates these outstanding students.
The Cat in the Hat is back, just in time for the annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on the birthday of the beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss.
