Arrests Made in Lehigh Acres McDonald’s Charity Box Theft
Two people were arrested for allegedly stealing a credit card reader and a charity donation box from a McDonald’s in Lehigh Acres, according to Lee County Sheriff’s Office reports.
According to reports, Kayla Maria Cortez and Blake Albritton entered the McDonald’s just before 3 a.m.
When an employee turned her back to the pair, video shows Albritton ripping the credit card reader and the McDonald’s charity box off the holder and ran from the restaurant.
An employee called police and a deputy pulling into McDonald’s spotted the vehicle and followed it until the driver lost control and spun out into a ditch.
While standing outside the vehicle, the deputy noticed two pills on the ground near Cortez. They were identified as the generic Adderal, reports said.
Albritton was arrested and charged with grand theft – $300-$5,000.
Cortez was arrested and charged with grand theft- $300-$5,000, making a false statement and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
