Brush Fire Season Is Heating Up
Lehigh Acres is heading into some of the driest months of the year, and brush fires are always a concern.
Right now the fire risk in Lehigh Acres is in the ‘very high’ range. Fire Authorities say having a plan for brush fires is just as important as your hurricane plan.
As the Florida Forest Service clears the neighboring lot full of vegetation, it’s also pretty clear; brush fire season is heating up in Southwest Florida.
Controlled burns help out fire crews by reducing the risk of the wildfire spreading; but when the weather becomes too dry, and then it’s up to the homeowner to help out.
That’s why local fire departments will be rolling out the ‘Ready, Set, Go’ action plan for wildfires.
The program includes a checklist of what you can do to ready your home–clear brush 30 feet around. Get set to activate your evacuation plan if a brush fire is approaching. And go–be ready to leave at a moment’s notice.
