Veterans Park Recreation Center has created three new fitness programs for all fitness levels.
The Veterans Park Recreation Center is located at 55 Homestead Road S.
The first is an outdoor weight loss and body-sculpting program for women 18 years of age and older. Participants will meet on the central lawn at Veterans Park on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
The second is a high-intensity, partner-based boxing workout; participants must be over the age of 18 and will meet Mondays at the recreation center. The third is a physical education club that will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at the recreation center for home-schooled children ages 6 to 15 years old.

A variety of art workshops is planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the second Thursday of each month beginning in May at Veterans Park Recreation Center, 55 Homestead Road, Lehigh Acres, Fl.
Learn a new technique or work on what you have already learned with award-winning artist June DeVincent. The cost is $35 per workshop for artists ages 14 and up. Mixed media, watercolor and charcoal, watercolor and pastel, graphite and pastel with sharpie accenting are planned for the May 11 workshop. Workshops will continue until fall.
Landex Resorts names new president/COO
Harry C. Powell Jr., CEO of Landex Resorts International Inc., announced that Ruth A. Anglickis, formerly vice president, has been named president/COO of the company.
Robyn A. Rocco (CAM/Realtor), has become the newly appointed vice president and Rebecca Adame (CAM) assistant vice president.

Lee County, FL—April 1, 2013— On Saturday, April 13 ,2013, Boulevard Tavern, Advance Auto Parts, and the Florida Gulf Coast University HOPE Club will host Cruzin’ for HOPE, a car, truck and bike Sshow to benefit Lee County Volunteers in Medicine. The event begins at 1pm at Boulevard Tavern, located at 12220 Town Lake Drive, Fort Myers and will include giveaways, raffles and a People’s Choice Award. Lee County Volunteers in Medicine is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization that operates the only free medical clinic in Lee County. The clinic is staffed with volunteer physicians, mid-level providers, nurses and lay volunteers who work to provide health care in a compassionate manner to people who would normally not have access to such care. The mission of Lee County Volunteers in Medicine is to understand and serve the health and wellness needs of the medically uninsured or underserved populations living in Lee County. The Lehigh Concert Band will perform April 7 at 3:00 P.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, 705 Leeland Heights Blvd. The event is free of charge, though donations are accepted. The Band members are retired teachers and military, as well as part time musicians from all walks of life that get together to have a good time and bring Lehigh Acres its own town band experience.
Enjoy the sound of music with a traveling theme for all our snowbirds including marches and selections to remind us of other places we call home.

Hurricane season starts June 1 in Southwest Florida. Colin Downey of the American Red Cross of the Southern Gulf Region said, “The most important thing is getting prepared in advance.” All Southwest Florida residents and visitors should know three basic points.
Point 1: Prepare a hurricane kit. A hurricane kit should have at least the following:
- A gallon a day of water for each person, with water for at least 3 days.
- An NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) radio to hear oncoming news and emergency information.
- A first aid kit for administering basic emergency first aid.
- Non perishable food and a manual can opener.
