Creative Living Booth
at the SW FL Lee County Fair
The Inner Wheel Club of Fort Myers was happy to help the Lee County Fair Board by designing and constructing the Creative Living booth at the Fair. The booth consisted of all types of artistic work submitted by youths and adults from this community. There were photographs and original art, knitting, crocheting, plants, woodworking, basketry, and many other types of creative works. The members of the Inner Wheel Club spent a week prior to the opening of the Fair getting all the submissions judged and displayed for the public’s enjoyment.
Inner Wheel is an international service club that is located in over 100 countries and has approximately 100,000 members. It was started in 1924 by the wives of Rotarians in England and migrated to the United States in 1967. The Inner Wheel USA Foundation partners with Hangar Prosthetics Corporation to supply myolectric arms for children. Our most recent recipient was Fred Langdale of Moore Haven, who lost his arm to an alligator while swimming in the Caloosahatchee River. The new arm Fred received has helped him to continue the activities he has always enjoyed: Fishing, Welding, and Boating.
When insurance only provides a claw after loss of limb, Inner Wheel partners to provide the child with an arm that helps normalize their life.
The objects of Inner Wheel are to promote true friendship, to encourage the ideals of personal service, and to promote international understanding. Fort Myers Inner Wheel Club was chartered in 1984 and continues to help this community by supporting the Harry Chapin Food Bank, collections of sweatshirts for the homeless, school supplies for the needy, and many other worthy projects.
