A 10-acre brush fire sparked in Punta Gorda is threatening the state prison and homes in its path, according to Charlotte Fire and EMS.
According to Charlotte County Fire, “It’s intense at 31121 Oil Well Road in between US-41 and I-75.”
A strike team out of Lee County including a brush Truck from Lehigh Acres, the Florida Forest Service, as well as a chopper have been sent to this fire.
A wildfire burning on Big Cypress Seminole Reservation and Big Cypress National Preserve has consumed 150 acres in Hendry County today.
Fire teams from all over Southwest Florida, including Fort Myers, and North Collier are responding to the blaze.
According to the Assistant Fire Chief for Estero Fire said that the Seminole Tribe requested assistant as part of their mutual-aid agreement.
