Head Football Coach Resigns
East Lee County High School football head coach Scott Jones resigned after five seasons with the Jaguars.
Jones, said health and family concerns prompted his decision.
According to Jones, It’s the kids I’m going to miss the most, but he will be continuing teaching at East Lee County.
The Jaguars posted one winning season in Jones’ first four years before breaking out in 2012, winning their first state playoff victory. For Jones efforts, Jones was named the Florida Athletic Coaches Association District 18 Coach of the Year.
East Lee principal Brian Mangan said the school hopes to have Jones’ successor in place by early March.
According to Mangan, Jones is commitment to the program and to go above and beyond for the kids, you can’t overstate that.
