HealthPark Medical Center & Lee Memorial Hospital Named among Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals in 2013

Lee Memorial Health System’s HealthPark Medical Center and Lee Memorial Hospital have been named among the top 100 hospitals in the U.S., as measured by Healthgrades, the leading online resource that helps consumers search, evaluate, compare and connect with physician and hospitals. Earning this distinction places HealthPark Medical Center and Lee Memorial Hospital among the top two percent of hospitals in the nation. This is the 2nd consecutive year that HealthPark Medical Center and Lee Memorial Hospital have achieved this designation by consistently delivering superior clinical performance.
To determine the nation’s best performing hospitals, Healthgrades based its evaluation on objective measures of clinical quality across nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide. Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance for nearly every hospital in the nation; no hospital can opt-in or opt-out of being evaluated, and no hospital pays to be evaluated. HealthPark Medical Center and Lee Memorial Hospital were highly rated during evaluations and, as part of this distinguished group, have demonstrated it consistently for seven consecutive years.
To be recognized as Healthgrades America’s 100 Best, these hospitals also had measurably lower risk adjusted mortality and complication rates; meaning HealthPark Medical Center and Lee Memorial Hospital are significantly reducing the number of avoidable deaths within the five counties they service. This distinction provides a measure of confidence for consumers since Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospital recipients are recognized for providing better than expected outcomes across a broad spectrum of conditions and procedures consistently over an extended period of time.

Lee Memorial Health System was recognized by Healthgrades for many specialties for 2013, most notably, Lee Memorial Hospital as one of Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement (among the top 5% in the nation). It currently ranks second statewide.
HealthPark Medical Center received the Healthgrades Coronary Intervention Excellence Award, ranked fourth statewide, and was named among the top 10% in the nation for Cardiology Services.
Collectively, these hospitals received Healthgrades Stroke Care Excellence Award, ranked among the top 10% in the nation for treatment of stroke for 5 consecutive years (2009 – 2013), and ranked among the state’s top ten for Neurosciences.
