Impact Fees Slashed by 80%
At the Lee County Commissioners meeting today the commissioners voted to slash impact fees by 80 percent – this is a $10,000 deduction on the average cost of a new home in Lee County.
Commissioner Frank Mann cast the only dissenting vote.
This move reduces Lee County’s impact fees on a new single family house to $2,500. Fees on commercial and industrial buildings were also reduced.
Commissioners agreed to keep the all impact fees that fire districts and emergency services levy, because some are tied to debt repayment.
According to Mann, somebody has to pay for the roads and the schools, the parks, everything that is part of growth.
