Once again the community Lehigh Acres is taking a closer look at what it would take to become its own city.
On Saturday morning, 78 residents gathered at Lehigh Senior High School to talk about a possible incorporation.
Community leaders say they want to provide as much education as possible to Lehigh Acres residents – so they can make an informed decision.
They signed up for subcommittees in areas such as finance and public outreach in order to make that happen.
Many residents that attended say it’s time for Lehigh Acres to govern itself.
Right now, they are aiming toward a ballot question in 2016. At least two attempts have been made to incorporate Lehigh Acres in the past. But both have failed.
