Inventors Fair Award ceremony was tonight at the historic Edison Park Elementary school.  The total prizes, awards and scholarships granted at the event totals almost $80,000. Winners range from first grade to seniors in High School.

Stacy Adams of WINK News in Fort Myers was mistress of ceremonies and presented dozens of prizes to winners in each grade participating.  The awards were for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place. A grand Fair Award was granted to a winner in the senior (high school and middle school) and in the junior (elementary school) Divisions.

Special Awards were given by individual, organization and agency donors based on the criteria set by the donor and separate from the method used to score Grade-level awards.  The highlights of the evening included approximately $6000 in digital consumer goods granted by Sony Electronics, scholarships from Edison State College, Hodges University and the James and Eleanor Newton Scholarship.  Other popular Special Awards were parade invitations from the Edison Festival of Light, framed event posters by Doug McGregor, several Imaginarium Creativity Award that include family memberships, a Edison and Ford Winter Estates Inventors Summer Camp award, cash donations from the Edison Inventors Association, multiple Seminole Gulf Railway Advancement of Transportation awards, the William McHenry Envision Sales and Marketing Award, Gator Cage Awards.

GATOR CAGE AWARDS- (A $2,000 value with much more at stake)

Have you ever watched Shark Tank on TV?

Inventors present their products or ideas to a group of investors.

Any or all of the investors can decide to put money into the venture.

This is not a grant or a loan. It is an investment with the ultimate goal of generating profits for all involved.

Southwest Florida has its own brand of Shark Tank and it is called

GATOR CAGE!

This is a creation of the Entrepreneur Society of Naples or ESON.

This first time award recognizes 4 students who have been selected by members of ESON. Karl Gibbons, one of the members, is here tonight

to present these students with the opportunity to be coached by mentors before going into the Gator Cage to see if they can convince one or more investors to help finance the venture!  Students do not compete against one another in the Gator Cage.  Whether or not the student receives funding is based on the inventions own marketability.
