Joan Nan Penning, 74
Joan Nan Penning, age 74, formerly of Naples and currently of Lehigh Acres, Florida was reunited with her heavenly family October 30, 2012. She was born in Aurora, Illinois December 5, 1937 to Paul and Mildred Weigel. Living most of her life in Elgin, Illinois, she was a graduate of Elgin High School in 1955 and Western Illinois University in 1959, belonging to Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. Joan was an elementary school teacher and secretary of Elgin Teachers Association. Joan was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and a caring loyal friend. She will be deeply missed. Joan was hard working, kind and compassionate to all. She thought nothing of reaching out to help others. Survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Jim Penning; daughters Kimberly (Keith) Christiansen and Jill (Glen) Stevenson, son Jeffery Penning; her twin sister Jane (Richard) Larson; several nieces, nephews and grand-dogs. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert (Arliss) Weigel, her in-laws Wanda (Richard) Penning, Joyce (Calvin) Remington and niece Lori Remington Crites.
