Lee County Votes on Impact Fees
Lee County commissioners are moving forward with a plan that could cut millions in funding from schools, roads, public services and emergency services.
The Board of Commissioners is now exploring the idea of suspending the county’s impact fees. Those fees are imposed on new developments as a way to provide millions of dollars to things like schools, fire and EMS services. But some argue that those fees can discourage companies from building in the Lee County.
According to Jere Carrick, member of the Lehigh Acres Community Council, if the commissioners suspend impact fees for two years there would no money to work on the new community plan in Lehigh Acres.
