Lee Memorial Hospital and HealthPark Medical Center Achieve the 2013 Healthgrades Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence™
For the seventh year in a row, Lee Memorial Hospital and HealthPark Medical Center are recipients of the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence™ from Healthgrades, a leading provider of comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. This prestigious distinction places these Lee Memorial Health System hospitals among the top five percent of more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide for clinical performance.
“Through the dedication of our caring staff we continually strive to improve treatment and provide optimal patient outcomes. Receiving the Distinguished Hospital Award for seven consecutive years affirms Lee Memorial Health System’s commitment to continually provide the safest care and highest quality patient experience,” says Jim Nathan, President of Lee Memorial Health System.
Out of nearly 1,500 hospitals eligible for the award this year, Lee Memorial and HealthPark Medical Center are two, of the 262 hospitals named, that stand out above the rest for their overall clinical care across a broad spectrum of care. While many hospitals have specific areas of expertise and high-quality outcomes in certain areas, these hospitals exhibit comprehensive high-quality care across multiple clinical specialties. From 2009 through 2011, Healthgrades Distinguished Hospitals for Clinical Excellence as a group, had an overall 30.9 percent lower risk adjusted mortality rate as compared to other hospitals that did not achieve the award (across 18 common inpatient conditions and procedures).
Lee Memorial Hospital also received the Healthgrades Joint Replacement Excellence Award, is among the top 5% in the nation for Joint Replacement in both 2012 and 2013, and ranked second statewide in 2013. It is named as one of Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement for 2012 and 2013.
HealthPark Medical Center received the Healthgrades Coronary Intervention Excellence Award for 2013, ranked 4th statewide, and was among the top 10% in the nation for Cardiology Services in 2013.
Collectively, these two hospitals were the recipient of Healthgrades Stroke Care Excellence Award, ranked among the top 10% in the nation for treatment of stroke, for 5 consecutive years (2009 – 2013), and ranked in the top ten in Florida for Neurosciences in 2013.
