Meet Political Candidates
at Politics in the Park

Posted by Editor on Jul 3, 2012 in Local | 5 comments

Candidates running for election for local and state offices in the August 2012 Primary and  November 2012 General Election, including County Commission, School Board, State Representatives and all other elected offices will be meeting with voters and giving short speeches at Politics in the Park on July 7, 2012 from Noon to 4 PM. The Lehigh Acres Community Council sponsors this free event.

This event is unrelated to any political party and all registered voters, or those wishing to register to vote in the November election, are welcome to attend the free event. All registered candidates for local and state offices received an invitation to attend this event. At least 50 candidates have already committed to attend; however, more RSVPs are expected prior to July 7. The candidates will have the opportunity to have information at tables and talk to the public before or after their speeches. Candidates will be given 3 minutes to talk about their platform.

Politics in the Park will be held indoors at 5146 Leonard Blvd in Lehigh Acres. This is the campus of New Life Assembly of God; the church is not affiliated with the event.

This is the perfect opportunity to meet the candidates in person, hear them speak about community issues, and make an informed decision at the voting booth. Tell all of your friends and neighbors and don’t miss this important event !

Lehigh Acres Gazette will be doing a straw ballot at the Politics in the Park. Please stop by the Gazette’s table and vote for you favorite candidate. The results will be published Sunday morning.

Hope all your readers turn out for this wonderful event. It’s our chance to actually meet the people
who want to be elected to serve. “We the people” must make important decisions this election year.
There’s a lot at stake for the future of our area and our Nation.

Just came back from Lehigh’s Politics in the Park. The people should know that of the GOP candidates for US Congress, only Byron Donalds came to meet the people of Lehigh. Kreegel, Aubochon, Goss, Radel & Davidow didn’t care enough about Lehigh Acres to even stop by and say hello and meet the people. Consider that when you are voting August 14th for Congress. Stop by and “like” Byron’s page for Congress: https://www.facebook.com/byrondonalds

David is mostly correct. A few other candidates did stay after giving their speeches but most were not running for Congress. I have no dogs in the fight but was very surprised by the small turn out by local citizens. Byron Donalds, and the few others that stayed, took the time to say hello and shake hands and that should count for something. As this was my very first “political” event I was a bit disappointed, but not surprised, by how these candidates treat their constituents. If we want to change our country we have to be involved.
