Cartoonist – Charles Kerby
A cartoon is a form of two-dimensional illustrated visual art. While the specific definition has changed over time, modern usage refers to a typically non-realistic or semi-realistic drawing or painting intended for satire, caricature, or humor, or to the artistic style of such works. An artist who creates cartoons is called a cartoonist. The Lehigh Acres Gazette cartoonist is Charles Kerby.
Kerby is an 18-year-old senior at DeSalle Academy in Ft. Myers. He has been drawing his whole life. His introduction to cartooning was in a class taught by local favorite Doug MacGregor.
His talent earned him a spot at the Disney Dreamers Academy in 2012 where he worked with a Disney Animator and a Hollywood Producer to help attain his goal of becoming an animator of children’s television shows. He currently has 3 different shows in early stages of production.
The Southern Poverty Law Center posted this cartoon to its Facebook page. The credit reads CagleCartoons.com but I can’t actually find it on there. I’ll update with proper credit when I figure it out.
