Little League Practice
Schedules Are Out
Jim Hughes, President of the Lehigh Acres Little League, has announced the practice schedules. According to Hughes there is on Saturday practices scheduled…that’s because the Twins will be at the field doing a baseball camp.
If you do not know where the schedules are at www.lehighacresll.com and look for the division and team you are on.

Winter Softball
Leagues Has Started
Winter Softball Leagues have started in Lehigh Acres. All Teams are sanctioned by the USSSA.
Winter Softball League is for a 6 week season plus play-off and championships
Game times will be 6:30, 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 at Veteran’s Park
Mondays Co-ed and Men’s and Thursdays Ladies and Men’s

USA Rugby Women’s
Premier League
The Emirates Airline USA Rugby Women’s Premier League, Division I Club and Division II Club Championships take place at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Fla. on November 9-11. This Championship had teams from all over the United States.
The FSMTA Southwest Florida Chapter provided free massages to the players during the three day event.
Little League Fall Ball Starts
Little League Fall Ball starts October 3, 2012.
Registration is from 6:30-8 p.m. September 14, 19 and 21 in the board room at Williams field.
Fall ball registration fee is $35. If anyone is interested in coaching. indicate so when registering.
Team Earns First Title
The Lehigh Acres 11-12-year-old baseball team earned its first district title behind the four-hit hurling of pitcher Rico Peele Monday night, July 2, 2012.
Peele gave up only four hits in 4 1/3 innings work while his battery mates slammed 15 hits smashing rival San Carlos Park 13-2. The District 18 title win came during play at Bonita Springs Community Park.
San Carlos jumped into the lead after the first inning with a 2-1 score. That was all she wrote. Lehigh Acres responded with 12 unanswered runs.
The slugging leader for the night’s outing was Cameron Jolly. He smacked two homers compiling four RBIs. Also notching four RBIs was Lehigh Acres’ Sergio Valenzuela who had three hits on the night.
Also having three hits for Lehigh Acres was Daniel Caylor. C.J. Johnston and Peele had two hits each in the District 18 Title win.

Take a plunge in the Lehigh Community Pool on June 14 and make history.
It’s an opportunity that you can become a part of a record for the Guinness Book of Records for the “largest swimming lesson ever.” All you have to do is sign up to take a swimming lesson at the Lehigh Community Pool on June 14 and join thousands around the globe doing the same thing.
Rebecca Horne, the pool’s aquatic facility supervisor at the Lehigh Community Pool at 1400 West 5th St., said all of the pools in Lee County are in the world-wide competition. So are thousands of pools around the world. (more…)
Southern Knights
Traveling Baseball Team
The newly formed Lehigh Acres Southern Knights travel baseball team participating in their first travel ball tournament, finished second in the recent Fort Myers Battle at the Starz III Tournament. Organizers do not recall any first time team ever making the finals before. These boys have definitely made a remarkable entry into travel ball.
Teams playing in the Starz Tournament included the Cape Coral Predators, Caloosa Cats, Fort Myers Eagles, runner-up Lehigh Southern Knights and the winning Naples Naturals.
Southern Knights players include John Morel, Stephen Seyez, Dominic Medeiros, Josh Meredith, Jacob Justice, JanMikell Bastardo, Steven Otero, Kaden Tome, Benjamin Grant, Steven Diaz, Sergio Valenzuela, Anthony Martin and Robbie Knowles. Coaches include Steve Seyez, Miguel Bastardo and Keith Justice.

Little League Opening Day Was a Huge Success
Saturday Lehigh Acres Little League Opening Day at Williams Park was a huge success. More than 500 boys and girls participated on forty teams playing in twenty games. The spectator attendance count for the day was over 2,000 parents and fans
In addition to the games, the kids enjoyed a full day of bounce houses, wall climbing, speed pitching and more. Members of the Lehigh Acres Varsity Baseball Team watched over and supervised this very much used area allowing all to take part in an orderly and safe manner.
oThe new Tball field proved to be just what the younger players needed. All in attendance talked about the great condition of the playing fields, the first class quality of umpiring, good food at a very reasonable price and how well run and organized the entire days program was. (more…)
Opening Day Set For
Little League Baseball, Softball
Lehigh Acres Little League Baseball and Softball will be holding its 2012 Opening Day on Saturday, Feb. 18.
Over 500 boys and girls from Lehigh Acres between the ages of 4 and 16 will be playing on 40 different teams on five different fields. Games will be played though out the day with the first starting at 8 a.m. and the final games starting at 4 p.m. Minnesota Twins Play by Play Broadcaster, John Gordon will be on hand to through out the first ball.
There will be several bounce houses, water rides and other activities for all to enjoy, as well as a complete low priced food stand. It will be a Fun Family Day for everyone. The community is invited to join in on the fun and help support all of our local boys and girls.
Admission and parking is free. This years program is bigger than ever with more boys and girls taking part. Little League has been apart of the Lehigh sports scene for over fifty years and it continues to grow. Many of the players have gone on to play at higher levels.
This will be an enjoyable activity you can take part in and enjoy with your entire family. There will be no smoking or adult beverages in use. Once you experience the Little League atmosphere you will return again and again.
