One Dead in Crash

State Road 82 and Homestead Road are back open after an overnight accident. One person was killed and another was injured. The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. and involved two vehicles. Florida Highway Patrol is working the scene.

Florida Highway Patrol say a silver Mustang and a red KIA sedan were both traveling east on SR-82 when the KIA attempted to make a left turn onto Homestead Road.

According to FHP reports the Mustang attempted to pass the KIA and the vehicles collided.

The driver of the Mustang was ejected from the vehicle. That person was transported via ambulance to Lehigh Regional Medical Center.

And the driver of the KIA was trauma alerted and flown to Lee Memorial Trauma Center by Aeromed.

Florida Highway Patrol has confirmed that one of the drivers has died although it has not been specified which driver.
