Pirate Night at
Lehigh Elementary

Lehigh Elementary families of kindergarten, first grade, and second grade students will join the crew of Captain Bookbeard on Family Literacy Night, January 17, at Lehigh Elementary from 5 -8 pm.  “Yo Ho, It’s a Reader’s Life for Me!” is the theme of the evening and families will travel together through a literacy adventure and experience the joy of reading.  After a light dinner, the Calendar Girls will open the program and “Walk the Plank for Books”. Then families will visit the Treasure Room to select a book, learn about the Accelerated Reading Program, and hear some special pirate stories.  Captain Bookbeard, award winning author Darrell House, will share his experiences as an author through poems, songs, and stories. In addition, children will make finger puppets to be their reading buddies, and families will learn how to practice reading skills with games.
