Homestead Road from south of Sunrise Boulevard to north of Alabama Road: Construction Project: This project consists of widening Homestead Road to four lanes. This work will also improve drainage and install new underground utilities. A six-foot sidewalk will be constructed on both sides of the roadway. Motorists should expect lane closures during daytime hours. The project cost is $14.4 million. The contractor is Stevens and Layton, Inc. The project is expected to be complete by the end of 2019.
Lehigh Acres Intersection Improvements – Leonard Boulevard and Haviland Avenue: Lee County DOT is currently making improvements to the intersection of Leonard Boulevard and Haviland Avenue. Motorists should use caution when traveling in this area as intermittent lane closures may occur for east and west bound traffic. We anticipate this project to be completed by the end of August 2017.
Reminder: New Intersection Stop Control – Homestead Rd S & Milwaukee Blvd, Lehigh Acres: DOT Traffic converted the intersection to an ALL WAY STOP on Wednesday, August 2, 2017.
The intersection of Homestead Road and Sunrise Boulevard: Crews will install a water main and drainage pipes at the intersection of Homestead Road and Sunrise Boulevard from Monday, August 7 through Friday, August 18 during daylight hours between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Motorists should expect detours, delays, and lane shifts on Sunrise Boulevard. Two lanes on Sunrise Boulevard will be kept open for eastbound/westbound traffic and flaggers will be on site to direct motorists. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use caution as they travel through the area.
