Roundabout Project
Moves Forward
Lee County Commissioner Ray Judah lavished acclaim and praises upon Lehigh Acres leaders this morning for pushing for a roundabout at the intersection of Beth Stacey Boulevard and Business Way.
Members of the Lehigh Acres Economic Development Board, among others, advocated the project. The roundabout, a circular intersection in which motorists travel in one direction around a central island, would be similar to the one at Sunshine Boulevard and 23rd Street West.
Commissioners gave staff with the Lee County Department of Transportation direction to proceed with construction after a unanimous vote.
Residents were hesitant about the project at a public workshop in April, but the Lehigh Community Council and the Lehigh Community Planning Panel both supported the effort. At the workshop, staff said the project would cost approximately $450,000.

A study done by someone from dot a few months ago said the roundabout would save him about 7 seconds of waiting in traffic. Is this really worth 450k?
Just what Lehigh needs another intersection that causes nothing but confusion and is a ridiculous waste of money.
The money could be used for far more meaningful things
