Stoppers Needs Your Help

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is seeking information on the death of 26-year-old Gregory C. Mathews, whose body was discovered on Christmas Eve in Lehigh Acres. He was unincorporated Lee County’s 21st homicide of the year.

On Dec. 24, a passer-by in the area of Hedgewood Street and Meadow Road in Lehigh Acres discovered Mathews’ body and called the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Mathews was known to friends as “Bam.”

On the LCSO website, a check of Mathews’ record shows 19 arrests since 2001 with charges ranging from armed robbery in 2001 to possession of marijuana in June of this year, his most recent arrest.

Investigators are hopeful the public can provide information about Mathews’ slaying. Anyone with information is asked to call crime stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
