Spring Basketball League Planned

Veterans Park Recreation Center in coordination with the Sheriff’s Youth Activities League is organizing the 2013 Spring Basketball League. It’s open for boys and girls ages 8 to 15. The deadline to sign up is Feb. 5. Practice starts Tuesday, Feb. 19 and games are played Wednesday evenings beginning Wednesday, March 6 through May 1.

Ages, skill level and number of players will determine how many teams there will be and what level they will play. Player skill evaluations are run for the purpose of distributing talent as evenly as possible throughout the league. The cost is $25 per player, which includes game T-shirt. Checks can only be made out to the Sheriff’s Youth Activities League. No cash will be accepted. A $10 facility membership fee is required to participate in all programs. All practice and games will be at Veterans Park Recreation Center on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. For more information call Veterans Park Rec Center at 369-1521.

The basketball league at Veterans Park is looking for volunteer coaches. The coach is the single most important adult leader.
