Handgun to School
An East Lee County High School student was arrested Wednesday for bringing a loaded handgun to school, according to Lee County Sheriff’s Office reports.
An unidentified student came forward on Wednesday and said a student had a gun on school property. The student gave school administrators the names of three students.
The first two students were searched and nothing was located.
The third student was also searched and nothing was located, reports said.
As that third student was being escorted back to class, the security personnel found a black book bag near the entrance to the boy’s locker room, reports said.
According to LCSO reports inside the black book bag was a Hi-Point 45-caliber semi-automatic handgun.
Also inside the bag were papers belonging to third student and a book belonging to the student’s brother, reports said.
Surveillance video shows student arriving to the school in the morning with the book bag, just before he was located by the security personnel.
The student was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon on school property.
