Teen Parents Arrested For
Aggravated Child Abuse of Infant
Lee County Sheriff Deputies have arrested the parents of an infant who was admitted to Health Park Hospital last month with serious injuries — including a fractured skull.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to an incident of child abuse on June 26 at a Lehigh Acres home.
The victim was identified as a 5-week-old infant. During the investigation, a medical doctor, who is an expert in child abuse, established that the victim sustained multiple serious injuries.
The baby had a fracture on the left side of her skull and her right leg, according to the report. Investigators say those injuries appeared intentional and consistent with child abuse.
A doctor told police that no one single event could have caused the child’s injuries, according to the report.
An extensive investigation by detectives in the Major Crimes Unit was conducted, which included numerous interviews and the examination of physical evidence.
The suspects were identified as the victim’s biological parents: Latrice Luster, 19, and Timothy Henderson, 19.
Detectives arrested the pair Wednesday on charges of Aggravated Child Abuse. They were taken into custody and booked into the Lee County Jail. They are each being held on $45,000 bond, have Aug. 18 court dates.
