The Festival Will Go On ……
In a statement from the President Andy Reisinger said this is the 37th year for the festival which is operated by the non-profit Lehigh Spring Festival committee. Reisinger said the festival has been relatively accident-free but that a similar incident had occurred in 2003 with a different rider operator.
According to Reisinger, said the state inspector had been at the fair Wednesday morning and had been taking pictures and looking at the all of the ride’s parts.
“It is my understanding that the ride is going to be replaced,” Reisinger said. “It will be a totally new one.” He said the fair would open as usual each night through Saturday.
Modern Midways, a Miami-based company that started in 2006, is in charge of operating the ride. The company has yet to release a statement.

There’s a slight error in this story: Modern Midways is the company that was providing rides at the time of the 2003 accident, just under a different name: Midwest Midways. They changed their name in 2006.
