The Thomas A. Edison Regional Science and Inventors Fair (TAERSIR) presents SCIENCE LIVE! on February 2, 2013
SCIENCE LIVE! (hosted by the TAERSIF) at Florida Gulf Coast University Alico Arena in partnership with the Edison & Ford Winter Estates will engage and captivate students of all ages with fun hands-on science and engineering activities along with Wild Wizard Science Shows throughout the day. The event will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013. Students and their families participating in the Fair, along with the public, can join the Edison & Ford Winter Estates Education Team to make solar necklaces, participate in solar challenges, see an explosion and a water rocket launch, ride the hovercraft, make polymer (slime) or be on stage with the Wild Wizard during a Wild Wizard Science Show. The Edison & Ford Winter Estates is proud to partner with the Thomas Alva Edison Kiwanis Science and Engineering Fair and the Thomas A. Edison Inventors Fair and FGCU to bring the best opportunities for students in education.
The planned activities of Science Live include:
· Nature of Science – Canister Pop
· Earth & Environment – Solar Bead Necklace and Solar Challenges
· Space – Rocket Launch, Straw Rockets, Mentos Drop
· Biology – Worms, plaster bugs
· Energy & Motion – Hovercraft
· Chemistry & Matter – Slime
· Engineering – Perfect Putt and Zipline Builds
· Wild Wizard Lab Show – 9:30AM – 10:30AM, 11:30AM – 12:30PM, 3:00PM – 4:00PM
There will also be an exhibit sponsored by the Bonita Bay Residents Wildlife Program featuring an amazing display about Florida wildlife and native habitats.
SCIENCE LIVE! will also feature activity booths with the Green Bus, Imaginarium Science Center and Lee County Mosquito Control. The Green Bus Recycling Experience is a dynamic opportunity for students and their families to participate in activities focusing on “Reduce”, “Reuse”, “Recycle”. The Imaginarium Science Center offers students and their families the opportunity to create flight with simple materials. Lee County Mosquito Control gets students and their families engaged with hands-on learning experiences that include mosquito identification, their habitats and life cycles and learn about techniques used to control mosquitoes.
SCIENCE LIVE! will be open from 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. SCIENCE LIVE! will be located at the Recreational Outdoor Center adjacent to Alico Arena. Wild Wizard Science Shows will be at 9:30AM, 11:30AM and 3PM. Come out and support your Southwest Florida students in science.
