Tips Net Arrests in
Lehigh Acres Robberies
A man and a woman from Lehigh Acres have been arrested for robberies committed in two days – two less than 30 minutes apart.
The robberies began Sept. 2 at the Subway at 2802 Lee Boulevard, Lehigh Acres.
A female walked into the store, implied she had a weapon, and demanded money. The clerk complied with the demand and the woman left the store with an undisclosed amount of money.
About a half hour later a woman walked up to the CVS Pharmacy counter at 13591 Jetport Commerce Loop, Fort Myers, and asked for drugs. She claimed she was very scared and didn’t want to commit the robbery but there were men outside with guns that wanted the narcotics. The clerk gave the female the drugs and she fled the scene.
On Sept. 3 the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a robbery at 7-Eleven, 530 Joel Boulevard, Lehigh Acres. A male entered the store and asked for money from the cash register. He said he was sorry but he owed someone money.
The clerk initially thought he was joking and the male lifted his shirt to show a handgun tucked in his waistband. The clerk activated the panic button and the male fled with no money.
Later in the week, robbery detectives were contacted by Crime Stoppers and given information from tips that identified a couple living at the same Lehigh Acres residence as being responsible for all three robberies.
The people arrested and their charges are: Juli Ann Caprio, 26, 2404 Haviland Avenue, Lehigh Acres; Robbery without a weapon – two counts (Subway and CVS). Michael Anthony Gillett Cooper, 27, 2404 Haviland Avenue, Lehigh Acres; Robbery with a Firearm (7-Eleven)
During the investigation, detectives found Caprio was on state probation for grand theft. She received two additional charges for violation of probation for each of the robberies.
