Toddler Found in Pool

A toddler that just turned two-years-old yesterday is in critical condition at Lee Memorial Health Park after his mother found him unresponsive in the pool.

The mother, Rebecca Osceola, said she was in the shower and lost track of the boy for just a minute before she found him in the pool at 1007 Merritt Avenue South around 10 a.m.

The boy’s stepfather Juan Sanchez Jr.grabbed him and carried him to a neighbor’s house for help. He was performing CPR on the child when deputies arrived and took over until EMS got to the scene.

The incident is believe to be accidental, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

The Department of Children and Families will conduct a follow-up investigation.
