The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s help apprehending a suspect wanted for an armed robbery that occurred at approximately 12:14 a.m.on Sept. 3, 2012  at 7-Eleven, 530 Joel Blvd. Lehigh Acres.

Deputies responded to the scene and met with the victim who stated that while on duty at the front register she was approached by a male. The man stated “he was a nice guy but owes a lot of people money,” and then demanded the cash in the register. The victim advised the male that she could not give him the money, to which the man lifted his shirt to reveal a black handgun. The employee then warned the man that she pushed the silent panic alarm. The male immediately ran out of the store empty handed.

No one was injured during the incident.

A perimeter was set up. Several deputies, K9 and aviation units responded to the scene with negative results.

The suspect is described as a white male. He was wearing sunglasses, blue jeans and a blue sweat shirt.

The suspect was last seen driving away in silver Ford Expedition.

Due to the nature of the crime, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit assumed the investigation. Anyone who may know the identity of the person responsible or has further information is asked to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at (239) 477-1000 or, to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward up to $1,000 dollars, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS(8477). Anonymous tips may also be made online at www.swflcrimestoppers.org, through the TipSubmit app on any iPhone or by texting CRIMES (274637) Keyword: REWARD.
