What’s Happening in Lehigh Acres
Lehigh Acres should expect scattered to numerous thunderstorms later today as a tropical wave moves into the area.
A few strong to possibly severe storms will occur, according to the National Weather Service. The tropical disturbance will bring locally heavy rainfall, strong gusty winds and frequent lightning.

Currently the tropical wave is located over the northwestern Bahamas and the Florida Straits. Due to high surface pressure and upper-level winds, the system is not expected to develop quickly.
The system has a low chance, 10 percent, of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours. as it moves northwestward at around 15 mph.
Showers and thunderstorms will be possible Monday. But by Tuesday the tropical wave will begin to move out with some drier air filtering the area.
